Medical Education You are here:HomeCareersCareer OptionsMedical CareersInterns (Prevocational PGY1)Medical Education St. Vincent's has a strong commitment to supporting our junior medical staff navigate their training, and particularly this important transition from medical school to internship and beyond. Supervision Each unit has a designated Term Supervisor who will meet with you regularly during your intern year to provide feedback and support. Each of the Training Programs has a designated Supervisor. For Interns and prevocational trainees there are two Supervisors of Prevocational Training: Dr Genni Newnham and Dr Brendan Morrisey. Medical Education Team The Medical Education Team includes: Dr Genni Newnham, Dr Brendan Morrissey (Supervisors of Prevocational Training) our Medical Education Offiver, Rachel Green and Manager of Early Career Programs Jade Murphy. Their role is to support you as you transition from medical student to Intern, provide a comprehensive weekly education program, including training in clinical and procedural skills, regular support and response to welfare concerns, feedback sessions at the end of each term and advocacy when needed. The Medical Education Team are located at St Vincent's Hospital Education and Learning on the 3rd Floor of the Healy Building (Building C) Orientation Interns are provided with a three day compulsory, comprehensive orientation to St Vincent's Hospital, Melbourne. The orientation program includes: Meeting our CEO and understanding the culture and values of our Hospital Combines information sessions with a focus on interactive skill based sessions including: Basic Life Support, Airway Management, IV insertion and Urinary Catheter Insertion to ensure you are confident and ready to start. Orientation finishes with a shadow shift day that allows new Interns to spend a shift in their new role, learning on the job with the outgoing intern.
