In 2019 the patient contribution fee is:
- Concession card holders: $6.50 per item
- General patients: up to $40.30 per item
To help us determine the appropriate charge for you please present your Medicare card and any concession cards and safety net cards.
If you request for medicines to be posted to your home, additional costs will apply.
There is a central cashier located in the foyer of the main hospital to take payment for medications, update concession card and entitlement details and to assist you with invoice enquiries.
Pharmacy invoices may also be paid via BPay or via our web payment system.
How do I order Medications from the pharmacy?
If you have a prescription from St Vincent’s clinics most often these prescriptions can be dispensed from your local pharmacy. Some prescriptions are only available from St Vincent’s outpatients Pharmacy.
To order these prescriptions you can bring the prescription to the outpatients pharmacy. We can also keep your repeat prescriptions on file. You can then telephone us a few days in advance, and we will prepare the medication ready for collection or arrange for it to be posted to you (postal charges apply).
Remember to let the pharmacy know if your address or concession status has changed since your last visit.
What do I need to bring to the clinic with me?
When attending an outpatient appointment, please ensure you bring a current list of your usual medicines. This includes any medicines that you purchase over the counter at your local pharmacy or supermarket, and any supplements or natural medicines you take.
If you have any allergies or are sensitive to any medications please bring a list of these with you.
What do I need to bring into hospital with me?
If you are being admitted for more than one day, please bring all of your medicines with you. This includes any eye drops, inhalers, injections, patches, non-prescription medicines, vitamins, herbal medicines, blister packs or dosette boxes. This helps ensure you receive the medication that is right for you. It also helps us identify any medication related problems.
If you have any allergies or are sensitive to any medications please bring a list of these with you.
When you go home the ward pharmacist will ensure you have all the medication you need and that you understand how and when to take them.
