Research and Education You are here:HomeOur ServicesDepartments and ServicesPPalliative Care Services St Vincent’s Palliative Care Services continues to foster and enhance expertise and developments in the provision of palliative care by maintaining a focus on research and education. All senior clinical staff regularly provide peer and inter-departmental education throughout St Vincent’s and Victoria. A Practice Development Nurse supports undergraduate and graduate nursing programs as well as ongoing nursing education and competency across both sites. More broadly this role also aids in the translation of current research into best clinical practice and advocating for palliative care awareness, resources and education within the organisation as a whole. St Vincent’s Palliative Care Services is intimately linked with the Centre for Palliative Care and maintains a library on campus dedicated to palliative care literature. St Vincent’s Palliative Care Services conducts several research studies, including clinical trials through the Palliative Care Clinical Studies Collaborative (PaCCSC). Centre for Palliative Care The Centre for Palliative Care is part of St Vincent's and is a Collaborative Centre of The University of Melbourne, Australia. The Centre has a state-wide role in enhancing care through excellence in palliative care research and education for health professionals from a variety of disciplines. The Centre has networks and collaborative projects extending nationally and internationally. For further information please go to: www.centreforpallcare.org Caritas Christi Library The Caritas Christi Library was established in 1988 in Kew and holds an extensive range of books and journals regarding palliative care and related issues. The library is open to the public and all resources are available for use within the library but cannot be taken off-site. Palliative Care Clinical Studies Collaborative (PaCCSC) St Vincent’s Palliative Care Services is involved with clinical research conducted through the Palliative Care Clinical Studies Collaborative (PaCCSC). PaCCSC is a national mutli-centre research network which aims to provide an evidence base regarding the quality use of medicines to maintain comfort and function during the terminal phase of a person’s life.
