Consumer Resources

There are a range of services and resources at St Vincent’s Mental Health & Wellbeing service and in the community to support you.

Consumer resources guide

Our Consumer Resources guide contains information about our wellbeing programs, how you can make an advanced statement, as well as community resources and crisis support lines.

Consumer Peer Workers

Consumer MH and AOD Peer Workers are trained professionals with lived and living experience of mental ill health and accessing mental health services.

They use the Intentional Peer Support Model of mutuality, connection, moving toward and worldview to share their experiences of accessing mental health services, treatment and recovery.

You can talk with a Peer Worker about your experiences of mental ill health and accessing services, finding community resources that may be helpful, gaining social connection and more.

Consumer Peer Workers are available to support you across a range of programs. Please ask your case manager or call one of the community clinics for more information:

Consumer Consultants

Consumer Consultants enable lived experience perspectives to be included in service planning, delivery and implementation.
These are systemic advocacy roles that are dedicated to improving the way we respond to consumer needs, and to communicate the broad views of consumers to the mental health service and other relevant services for system change and overall better service user satisfaction.

Consumer Consultants have a service wide function and are located at Clarendon and Hawthorn Clinic.

Consumer participation - Consumer Reference Committee

The Consumer Consultants run a Consumer Reference Committee which includes clinical staff, lived/living experience staff, Consumer Consultants, and a number of consumer representatives. The Committee discusses policies, projects and services that have an impact on consumers.

It’s another way we make sure that consumer views are heard and taken into account – views and actions and come out of this meeting for staff to consider further and implement.

If you would like to learn more about Consumer Representative, please speak with a Consumer Consultant. Your contribution is important for service improvement and always welcome.

You can do this by speaking with a member of your treating team or contacting one of the clinics directly.

What is case management

If you are a consumer accessing the community mental health and wellbeing program, you will be allocated a case manager who is a mental health clinician such as a Social Worker, Psychiatric Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Psychologist.

You can find out more about case management here.
