St Vincent’s Melbourne Hospital’s Boosting Our Healthcare Workforce project team received the award for Celebrating a Strong and Sustainable Workforce at the 2024 Victorian Public Healthcare Awards. The VPHA awards celebrate and acknowledge the achievements of our healthcare workers, public health services and health volunteers across Victoria. It’s fantastic to see the Boosting Our Healthcare Workforce team’s hard work recognised in this way. The program, developed in partnership with the University of Melbourne and the Melbourne Academic Centre for Health, has been instrumental in increasing student placements at SVHM following the challenges of the pandemic. It provided frontline clinical experience and developed clinical supervision skills, contributing to the ongoing education and professional development of students. More than 110 SVHM staff participated in the program which created capacity for an additional 7000 placement days across the organisation. SVHM was also proud to be one of three finalists for the Premier’s Large Health Service of the Year Award, the most prestigious category of the evening. This recognition reflects the collective efforts and dedication of everyone across the organisation. St Vincent’s Melbourne was proud to showcase the high-quality, compassionate care it provides, thanks to the ongoing dedication of staff to our patients, residents and clients.
