Body Image Eating Disorders Treatment and Recovery Service (BETRS)
The Body Image & Eating Disorders Treatment & Recovery Service (BETRS) is a collaborative partnership between the mental health programs of Austin Health and St Vincent’s Melbourne.
BETRS provides services to people with a suspected or diagnosed eating disorder between the ages of 18-64 who reside in the Adult Mental Health and Wellbeing Service catchment areas of:
- Central East
- Outer East
- Inner Urban East
- North East
- Northern
- Goulbourn & Southern
- North Eastern Hume

BETRS Services
We support people experiencing anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder and eating disorders not otherwise specified (OSFED).
BETRS offers a range of outpatient group eating disorder treatments, including a day patient program.
In conjunction with Austin Health, BETRS also facilitate assessment and referral to the inpatient specialist eating disorder unit (EDU) located at the Austin Hospital in Heidelberg.
Referring to BETRS
Referrals are made:
1. by people who are ready to engage in assessment, support and treatment for their eating disorder
2. with support from your GP as your GP will need to complete the medical referral.
3. by completing the self-report section and the GP medical information section.
