New Graduate Position

The New Graduate Social Worker is required to provide social work services to patients and families through the use of proficient clinical skills, effective communication, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. This position carries a clinical caseload and requires skills in psychosocial assessment, discharge planning, advocacy, referral, counselling, carer support, and knowledge of both internal and external services. Quality improvement activities are also undertaken as part of this role.

 

The new graduate position is a 12-month, full-time position within the Rehab and Acute Link Team (RALT). Units commonly allocated to the new graduate social worker may include: Orthopaedics, Elective Surgery Access Service (ESAS), Stroke, Rehabilitation in Acute (RAC), and/or others.  

 

This role is highly supported with regular supervision, access to professional development opportunities, and additional skill-based training available to all Grade 1 social workers. With excellent career opportunities, St Vincent’s social work department is a fantastic place to begin your social work career.

Student Teaching

The Social Work Department provides clinical placements for qualifying social work students. The Department has a formal arrangement with The University of Melbourne and La Trobe University Bundoora. Placements are arranged through university field placement officers.
