Speech pathologists work with people who have communication and/or swallowing difficulties. 

People can have communicating and/ or swallowing difficulties for many different reasons. At St Vincent’s we work with people who have communicating or swallowing difficulties due to injury or illness such as stroke, cancer, Parkinson’s disease and dementia. Injuries and illness can cause different kinds of communication and swallowing problems.

Outpatient services

Speech Pathology Voice and Swallow Outpatient Clinic provides diagnostic assessment and short-term management of dysphonia (voice), dysphagia (swallow) and airway disorders. Sessions in clinic or via telehealth available. Inclusive of outpatient Videofluoroscopy (VFSS) and Fibre-optic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) where required. Onward referral of patients requiring longer-term management / monitoring.

Eligibility: Patients referred must be linked with St. Vincent’s Public Hospital Specialist Clinics.
