How to apply

Applications for the 2018 program open on 13 June 2017 and close at 9.00am on 21 July 2017.

Applicants who are shortlisted for interview will be notified by the first week of August 2017.

Interviews will be held between 21 August and 25 August 2017. (Shortlisted Interstate or regional candidates will be offered the option of a phone interview).

Applying for our Graduate Nurse Program:

  1. Register with PMCV (Computer Match)
  2. Complete the online application for St Vincent’s Graduate Nurse Program via mercury on our website.

To be eligible for St Vincent’s Graduate Nurse Programs applicants must have Australian or New Zealand Citizenship or permanent residence status. Victorian, Interstate and New Zealand applicants must apply to both the PMCV Computer Match and to St Vincent’s Hospital.

International applicants apply only to St Vincent’s and will only be considered post completion of the PMCV computer match process. Any vacant positions may then result in these candidates being considered.

 

Step 1 – Preparing your online application

The following documents are to be uploaded (either a separate Word document or PDF):

  • Letter of application, addressed Attention to: The Graduate Nurse Coordinator, outlining why you wish to be a Graduate at St Vincent’s (maximum of one page).
  • Curriculum vitae (maximum of 3 pages).
  • Academic transcript to date, with results legend (certified copy).
  • Certified copies of your 2 most recent third year clinical placement reports. Reports must be sent in their entirety not selected parts or pages. (If you have not completed a third year medical or surgical placement at the time of application, please also send your most recent second year medical/surgical placement report.)
  • We do not accept Maternal Child & Health placements or Mental Health placement reports.

Additional information required:

  • Your Clinical Rotation preferences.
  • The name and details of two professional referees (must be a Clinical Teacher, Preceptor or a senior nurse to whom you have recently reported to). Ensure you inform your referee of your intention to list them.

All components of the application are considered when shortlisting applicants for interview. Notification for interview will be via email by the first week of August 2017.

  • Interviews will be conducted during the week commencing 21 August 2017 and will consist of a face-to-face interview and a team activity of clinical scenarios.
  • Allow approximately two hours.
  • Bring all original documents or certified copies of your application on the day of your interview.

 

Step 3 - Outcome of PMCV Match
  • PMCV Computer Match results are released on Tuesday 10 October 2017. If you are successfully matched to St Vincent’s you will be contacted by phone within 24 hours.

Eligibility

  • Completed a Diploma of Nursing no earlier than December 2016.
  • Applicants must have Australian citizenship, permanent residence status or New Zealand Citizenship.
  • Available to commence the program on 2 October 2017.

  5. A current passport size colour photo (head and shoulders).

  • The name and details of 2 professional referees (must be a Clinical Teacher, Preceptor or a senior nurse to whom you have recently reported to). Ensure you inform your referee of your intention to list them.

Step 2 - Attending an interview
  • Interviews will be conducted during the week commencing 27 June 2017 and will consist of a face-to-face interview. Allow approx. 30 minutes.
  • Please bring any documentation not included in your application. eg Clinical Placement reports.

 

Step 3 – Notification of outcome
  • Successful candidates will be notified by phone in the first week of July.
