Research and Education

St Vincent’s Palliative Care Services continues to foster and enhance expertise and developments in the provision of palliative care by maintaining a focus on research and education. All senior clinical staff regularly provide peer and inter-departmental education throughout St Vincent’s and Victoria. A Practice Development Nurse supports undergraduate and graduate nursing programs as well as ongoing nursing education and competency across both sites. More broadly this role also aids in the translation of current research into best clinical practice and advocating for palliative care awareness, resources and education within the organisation as a whole. The Practice Development Nurse can be contacted on (03) 9231 5000 or by pager 1402.

St Vincent’s Palliative Care Services is intimately linked with the Centre for Palliative Care and maintains a library on campus dedicated to palliative care literature. St Vincent’s Palliative Care Services conducts several research studies, including clinical trials through the Palliative Care Clinical Studies Collaborative (PaCCSC).
