Financial Assistance

Financial assistance via scholarship is available to support St Vincent’s nurses pursuing Graduate Certificate and Diploma nursing courses and Masters level that will lead to endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner to apply for. 

For information about Mental Health Postgraduate scholarships, please refer to the guidelines in the heading under Mental Health or contact the stream educator.

See below options for financial assistance during postgraduate study. If you are completing your postgraduate studies in a part time mode you can apply for financial support in the year of completion.

 

St Vincent's Postgraduate Scholarships 2023/2024

Scholarships 2024 - Internal

There are 2 types of scholarships available to St Vincent’s staff undertaking Postgraduate study in 2024.

 1. St Vincent's Nursing Alumni - Scholarships will be offered in 2024. 

 2. Bank First Nursing Scholarships – Scholarships will be offered in 2024 to Nursing staff undertaking Postgraduate study.

Scholarships Semester 2 2023 and 2024 - Internal

Department of Health Scholarships are available to St Vincent's staff entering Postgraduate study in Semester 2 2023 and Semester 1 2024.

Department of Health Scholarships- In 2024 Scholarships are also available to all nursing staff undertaking Postgraduate study commencing Semester 2 2023 at Graduate Certificate /Diploma and Masters level to apply for. Priority areas per the Department of Health include, Intensive Care, Emergency, Aged Care and Cancer streams. All other individuals that meet the Departments eligibility criteria as per the guidelines may also apply. (You are eligible to apply if the stream you are undertaking Postgraduate study in has a clinical component and the support of a clinical educator).

Before applying, ensure that you read the Department of Health Postgraduate Scholarship Guidelines to ensure that you meet the Department of Health criteria for eligibility. Note the expectation to work at 0.8 FTE in the clinical area of study for 12 months beyond your Postgraduate studies.

To apply for Department of Health Scholarships Semester 2 2023 and Semester 1 2024

Applications open Tuesday 16th January, 2024 and close Tuesday 30th January, 2024.

  1. Complete an application form.
  2. Submit evidence of your out of pocket expenses relating to course fees. If you commenced midyear 2023 this means submit evidence of course fees for both Semester 2 2023 and Semester 1 2024. If you are commencing Semester 1 2024, Submit your evidence of course fees for Semester 1 2024. (Submit your receipt of university fees payment or alternative documents that show evidence of your out of pocket expenses for course fees that you have incurred. If you need to submit this evidence after your application form is submitted that is fine).

If you are the recipient of a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) or a scholarship other than one from the Department of Health, this needs to be declared on your application form.

Upon receipt of your application Education and Learning will send you an email to acknowledge and confirm that your application has been received.

Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application in May 2024.

If successful in obtaining a scholarship, payment will occur in June 2024.

Scholarships 2024 – External

Scholarships are available to St Vincent’s staff undertaking Postgraduate study in 2024 from external parties. These include ANMF, Australian College of Nursing, Universities.

Feel free to source external scholarships that you are eligible to apply for.

Masters in Nursing /Nurse Practitioner Scholarship

Department of Health - Scholarships will be offered to candidates undertaking Postgraduate study at Masters of Nursing level that will lead to endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner.
